Midjourney emphasizes generation and variation, while Firefly connects generation with editing and Adobe apps. Both generate images and short videos, but they sell different creative workflows.
When to pick which
Choose Midjourney when you develop many image ideas through prompts, parameters, and variations and are comfortable measuring use in GPU time. The V8.2 Edit Model also changes existing images through text, combines up to four references, and supports inpainting and outpainting. Choose Firefly when the result should be edited further with Generative Fill, Expand, backgrounds, or partner models and then used in Adobe Express or Photoshop. Midjourney has no permanent free plan; Firefly offers free generations that refresh daily. On paid plans, Midjourney sells Fast GPU hours and adds Relax Mode for images from Standard, while Firefly uses credits for premium features and makes standard image features available without credit charges. For confidential drafts, note that Midjourney's Stealth Mode starts with Pro. Eligible Firefly individual plans can use selected models without credit deductions through a 12-month offer, only in Firefly web/mobile. This does not generally apply to Teams or other Adobe apps; Premium video also has queue conditions.
